Measuring Wellbeing in North Central Washington

Washington Environmental Health Disparities Map

In 2025, Thriving Together NCW partnered with the Washington State Department of Health to host community dialogues across North Central Washington as part of the Environmental Health Disparities Map project. By bringing local voices and lived experiences into the process, these conversations will help inform updates to a statewide tool used to guide investments, policy, and resources.

This new summary report shares what we heard from communities across the region and the key themes that emerged from these conversations.

Creating a region that supports our aspiration of all people and places thriving will require authentic dialogue. At Thriving Together NCW, we recognize that both quantitative and qualitative data are essential to understanding the factors that contribute to or hinder an individual’s wellbeing.

NCW Wellbeing Report

Thriving Together NCW launched the North Central Washington Wellbeing Survey in 2024 to better understand what helps or prevents our community members from thriving. Measuring wellbeing helps us see whether the conditions we are working to strengthen are translating into better lives for people across North Central Washington. We encourage partners to explore the findings and consider how they can inform our collective work.

Shared Measurement Data Inventory

Good decisions start with understanding what we already know. Across North Central Washington, organizations are collecting valuable data about our communities, but that information often lives in different places.

Our Shared Measurement Data Inventory brings these insights together in one accessible resource, making it easier for partners to learn from one another, strengthen grant writing and program planning, identify gaps in what we know, and avoid duplicating data collection efforts.

How the Data Informs Our Work:
This interactive dashboard allows you to explore the breakdown of our Medicaid population as well as healthcare measures and maps – across different geographies and demographics. This dashboard was specifically developed for Washington’s Medicaid Transformation.
How the Data Informs Our Work:
Compares clinics, medical groups, hospitals, counties and ACHs on common types of quality care. A great complement to the Healthier Washington Dashboard (though be careful with comparisons since measurement periods and metric specifications may be different).

How the Data Informs Our Work:
This resource is full of data visualization through maps. You can sort, export, chart, and map data across a variety of public health indicators, including opioid measures. You can explore maps that show community rankings that highlight health and social disparities. You also can explore dashboards specific to opioid prescriptions or related to social determinants of health (e.g. the percentage of the population in poverty, living with crowded housing, with limited English, unemployed and uninsured).
